Collier's encyclopedia defines prejudice as: a judgement or opinion, favorable or unfavorable, formed beforehand or without due examination; a mental decision based on other grounds than reason or justice; especially, a premature or adversely biased opinion. This is a key word in the rave scene. Even though the scene preaches peace, love, and unity, there seems to be a lot of prejudices. Collier's defines unity as: the state, property, or product of being united, physically, socially, or morally: oneness; OPPOSED TO DIVISION. Division is happening in the rave scene. The main preachers of peace and unity, are the ones who are trying to divide the rave scene. It isn't about who should or shouldn't go to raves, or be in the scene. The scene belongs to NO ONE. It belongs to everyone. It isn't about how you dress, how you act, what drugs you do, or who you know. It's about the music, the vibe, the love, and the happiness. It's about meeting new people and sharing an experience with new friends, regardless of age, race, sex, or cultural background. It's about an open mind. A place where everyone can go and feel welcome. A rave should be a place where you can be yourself and be respected and accepted for it. Think before you speak. Get to know a person before you judge them. Respect everyone until they give you a reason not to. Learn to love yourself and others. Give everyone a chance.
